Executive Vice-President Virkkunen in Italy to meet media industry and visit EU hubs advancing AI

From 4 to 6 September, Executive Vice-President Henna Virkkunen will be travelling to Italy to engage with the media industry, and to visit European innovation excellencies in artificial intelligence (AI) and supercomputing in Bologna and Cernobbio.

On 4 September, the Executive Vice-President will participate in the 82nd Venice International Film Festival and meet with the organisation's President and the Artistic Director for Cinema. This will be followed by a roundtable with media industry representatives to discuss the next Multiannual Financial Framework, the upcoming European Media Industry Outlook findings, and the European Media Freedom Act, which started applying in August. She will also hold bilateral meetings with EU commercial broadcasters operating in Italy.

The next day, 5 September, the Executive Vice-President's visit will focus on supercomputing and Artificial Intelligence (AI). She will be visiting Leonardo, one of ten jointly procured EuroHPC supercomputers, and ITA4LIA, one of 13 EU AI factories.

On the final day of the trip, 6 September, Executive Vice-President Virkkunen will participate to Forum Ambrosetti, in Cernobbio, where she will debate on 'The European Way of Innovation and Digital Sovereignty'.
