Overnight Lane Closures on Interstate 80 in Contra Costa County for Median Barrier Repair, Final Striping & Lighting Installations

Schedule: Ongoing through September 2025 - Weeknights: 9:00 PM to 6:00 AM

Contra Costa County - Caltrans District 4 is continuing overnight maintenance and safety upgrades along Interstate 80 (I-80) between Appian Way in Pinole and Carlson Boulevard in Albany. Work includes median barrier repairs, lighting installation, and striping.

Multiple lanes will be closed in both directions of I-80 in Contra Costa County between 9 PM and 6 AM, Monday through Friday. The highway will remain open during the day, and all closures are limited to overnight hours only.

Scheduled Work Details:

  • Median Barrier & Electrical work will take place on the eastbound and westbound I-80 between Appian Way and Carlson Boulevard.
  • Westbound & Eastbound Striping is scheduled to begin the week of September 15th and 22nd between Hwy 4 and Cutting Blvd.
  • Barrier cleanup will be ongoing throughout the new median barrier limits, from Albany to Hercules.

Changeable Message Signs (CMS) will provide advance notice for motorists traveling in the area. Drivers may experience minor delays and are advised to plan ahead and allow extra time.
