Defendant Convicted of Attempted Murder During Home Invasion Robbery

DATE: October 7, 2025

CASE: Lejon Mabon (Case #21FE018012)

PROSECUTOR: Deputy District Attorney Michelle Restrepo, Major Crimes Unit

On October 2, 2025, Lejon Mabon was convicted by a jury of attempted murder. The jury also found true the allegation that Mabon was armed during the commission of the crime. The jury further found that Mabon suffered three prior strike convictions.

On October 14, 2021, Lejon Mabon and his unidentified accomplice forced entry into the victim's garage door to commit a home invasion robbery. They entered the master bedroom where the victim and his girlfriend were asleep in their bed. Mabon hit the victim in the face, causing his eye to swell shut. When the victim fought back, he was shot twice but survived his wounds. Mabon and his accomplice then fled the house. Minutes later, Mabon was dropped off at a hospital for gunshot wounds. Mabon was captured on the hospital's surveillance camera wearing a camouflage jacket. Detectives observed a suspect wearing the same jacket while removing a light bulb from the victim's next door neighbor's porch a few hours before the home invasion. That camouflage jacket was collected from the hospital and lab testing found that it had the victim's DNA on it. A beanie was also recovered from the crime scene with Mabon's DNA on it.

Mabon faces a maximum sentence of 41 years to life in prison. Sentencing is set for November 21, 2025, at 9 a.m. in Department 21 before the Honorable Shelleyanne Chang.
