Traffic Interruption on SR 74 and SR 54 Displaced LEft Turn Lanes Open July 30

WHAT: Beginning July 30, 2026, traffic at the intersection of SR 74 and SR 54 will move into a new traffic pattern.
Drivers turning left from SR 74 onto SR 54 will use the new left-turn lanes at the two outer traffic signals. Drivers traveling straight through the intersection on SR 74 or SR 54 will continue through the center traffic signal.

As with any construction project, the traffic shift date may change due to weather or field conditions.

A displaced left turn (DLT) lane is a special type of intersection where drivers wanting to turn left cross over to the opposite side of the road before reaching the main intersection. This allows left-turning traffic and through traffic to move at the same time, which helps reduce delays and improve traffic flow.

When: Weather permitting, opening is scheduled for July 30, 2026

Where: SR 74 @ SR 54 in Peachtree City, Fayette County

The project consists of 0.492 mile of Reconstruction for a displaced left turn on SR 74 at SR 54.

ADVISORY: Dates may change due to weather or other factors. Motorists are advised to expect delays, exercise caution, and reduce their speed while traveling through work zones. Before heading out, get real-time information on work status and traffic conditions. Call 511, visit 511ga.org, or download the Georgia 511 app.
