Capacity Building Programme to be held in Tunisia

Capacity Building Programme to be held in Tunisia

The Bureau International des Expositions (BIE), in partnership with the Government of Tunisia, the Ministry of Trade and Export Development and the Export Promotion Center (CEPEX) is organising a Capacity Building Programme session in Tunis on 20-21 May.

This two-day multilateral training session will bring together representatives from countries across the region, highlighting the importance of collaboration and knowledge-sharing in both participating in and organising Expos. It aims to support nations as they prepare and optimise their participation in International Exhibitions, addressing all stages of the process - from conception and implementation to maximising the impact of their involvement.

Held in Tunis, this session builds on the momentum of regional cooperation and expertise-sharing around Expos. It draws on the first multilateral session organised in Libreville, Gabon, ahead of Expo 2025 Osaka Kansai, as well as the knowledge and best practices emerging from that Expo.

The programme will provide a conducive environment for exchange among participants, fostering the sharing of experiences while strengthening preparations for upcoming Expos, notably Specialised Expo 2027 Belgrade and World Expo 2030 Riyadh.

The Capacity Building Programme is a BIE initiative aimed at supporting its 184 Member States by enhancing their knowledge and expertise in participating in and organising Expos. It contributes to fostering their engagement in these international events and creating the best possible conditions for Expos to serve as platforms for multilateral cooperation, public diplomacy, and education.

Tunisia has been participating in Expos since the very first World Expo in London in 1851, and regularly takes part in both World and Specialised Expos.

The next Specialised Expo, Expo 2027 Belgrade, will take place between 15 May and 15 August 2027 in Belgrade, Serbia, under the theme "Play for Humanity - Sport and Music for All". The next World Expo, Expo 2030 Riyadh, will be held from 1 October 2030 to 31 March 2031 in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, under the theme "Foresight for Tomorrow".
