1890 | Pinal County's First Masonic Lodge

Back in 1890, Florence made history when Gila Valley Lodge held its very first meeting right on Main Street in Florence-the first Masonic Lodge in all of Pinal County. What started under dispensation of the Grand Master quickly grew into a cornerstone of community life, with traditions like meeting by the full moon still carried on today-just now on Mondays instead of Fridays. From the early days of silver working tools gifted by a Brother to the granting of its charter that same year, Gila Valley Lodge No. 9 has remained an active, vital part of the area. More than 130 years later, it still stands as a reminder that Freemasonry has always had a home in Pinal County and continues to play an important role in our community.
