Updated Code of Practice “Atlantic Canada Offshore Petroleum Code of Practice for the Training and Qualifications of Offshore Personnel'

The updated Code of Practice "Atlantic Canada Offshore Petroleum Code of Practice for the Training and Qualifications of Offshore Personnel, 2025 (CoP-TQOP)" has been published.

The CoP-TQOP provides a single document containing a concise description of the minimum qualifications and certificated safety training required of individuals working in Atlantic Canada's offshore petroleum industry. This update to the CoP-TQOP also addresses recent changes to the Canada-Nova Scotia Offshore Energy Regulator (CNSOER) regulatory framework and organization name.

The CoP-TQOP is considered a Code of Practice under sections 210.016 and 210.021 of the Accord Act, and the CNSOER's Chief Safety Officer requires Operators and Employers to adopt this Code of Practice for their workplaces during authorized activities.

The CoP-TQOP document can be found on the CNSOER website under the Codes of Practice tab of our Legislation and Regulatory Instruments web page.

If you have any questions, please contact the CNSOER's Chief Safety Officer at [email protected] or 902-422-5588.
