EU Special Representative for the Horn of Africa Visits Somalia to Strengthen Partnership

Mogadishu-Somalia: The EU Delegation in Somalia, hosted the EU Special Representative for the Horn of Africa, Annette Weber, for a two-day official visit from 30 November to 1 December.

At Villa Somalia, the EU Special Representative and Ambassador Di Mauro met with H.E. Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, President of the Federal Government of Somalia, to discuss political developments, the security transition, and changing regional dynamics.


Additional consultations were held with James Swan, Special Representative for Somalia and Head of UNSOM/UNTMIS, focusing on United Nations priorities and strengthened international coordination to support Somalia's state-building initiatives.


The EU Special Representative also met with Lt. Gen. Sam Kavuma, Officer in Charge of AUSSOM, to review African Union-European Union cooperation, Somali-led security priorities, and strategies to address operational and funding needs. Both parties reiterated their commitment to efforts that promote stability and resilience.
