SH-55 fully reopens near Banks following wildfire response

BANKS - State Highway 55 has fully reopened to two-way traffic near Banks following several days of traffic impacts related to the Mile Marker 81 Fire.

The highway had been operating with intermittent lane closures and pilot cars while fire crews worked along the roadway and cleared debris from the area. With those operations complete, traffic control has been removed and travelers can use both lanes of SH-55.

Drivers should continue to use caution through the area and watch for emergency personnel or equipment that may remain near the roadway. The Idaho Transportation Department thanks travelers for their patience during the closure and traffic restrictions.

Travelers can check Idaho 511 for the latest highway conditions before traveling.
