Glen Powell on Calling Tom Cruise for Running Tips & Shooting "Top Gun: Maverick" Beach Scene with Him

Glen: Yeah, I mean, he is the running man. I mean he is the most, yeah, there's actually a compilation I found online of Cruise running. It's like 30 minutes.

Drew: That's what I'm talking about. This verifies and gives me great validity.

Glen: Well, and also like, you know, when you're doing a movie called 'The Running Man,' you know, you don't wanna be, you don't wanna have a bad run, right? And so like I talked to like different sprinting coaches and I was like, 'All right, how do I like run properly' and they said 'There's only one actor that knows how to run, it's Tom Cruise.' I was like, well, I have his number, so yeah, so it was very helpful when we shot 'Top Gun Maverick' there's like a beach football scene in 'Top Gun Maverick.'

Drew: Oh yeah, we don't remember that at all. You know, that was probably many people's sexual awakening slash we all play that on repeat rent free in our minds.

Glen: Alright, well, I don't know what to do with that, but, you know, Tom, we were in that scene and there's like a bit where Tom literally takes off down the beach and you know everybody hears about Tom Cruise's run. He is the fastest guy on the planet when you're next to it, you're like, that guy can run.

Glen on the Meaningful Advice Denzel Washington Gave Him At the Start of His Career

Glen: I mean, when I was like 17 years old, I did a movie called 'The Great Debaters' where I played the Harvard debater at the end of the movie and I only got to work with, I got to have like a get to know Denzel pretty well on that. We went to debate camp to learn how to debate and you know I was at the University of Texas at the time and I get a call from, you know, Denzel's agent who asked me to meet up when we were when I was coming out for the premiere and I sat down with he and Denzel, and he and Denzel said, hey, I know that it's just a small role in this movie, but we feel like, you know, you could actually do this as a career and we think you should like properly give this acting thing a shot and so Denzel was really the one who like convinced me to move out to LA and give this whole thing a shot.

Glen: They're here, yeah, yeah, they're around.

Drew: Well, what is, I mean, I was just saying in the last segment.

Glen: We'll do like a group hangover here. You've met my mom, right? Oh, you guys haven't met before?

Drew: OK, I'm so honored to meet you and actually if you don't mind, do you have any parenting advice for me? I'm real serious right now.

Glen: This is my older sister Lauren.

Drew: Being an older sister is a big deal, but again, any advice, mom?

Cyndy: Love them, feed them, and make memories together, you know, we did so many things together just to enjoy. I mean, things don't matter, but moments together matter
