UIW Inaugurates New Location in León, Mexico
New Site will also be Home to Presidential Library of
Former Mexican President Vicente Fox
San Antonio - July 13, 2026 - The University of the Incarnate Word (UIW) is proud to announce that it has officially inaugurated University of the Incarnate Word León, its latest location in Mexico. Located in the central Mexican state of Guanajuato, the new site will serve as an academic initiative to serve the greater León Metropolitan area. It will also be home to the Presidential Library of former Mexican President Vicente Fox.
The inauguration, which took place on July 7, 2026, was attended by over 200 guests including UIW President, Thomas M. Evans, PhD, and former President Fox. Also in attendance were all three presidents from the newly formed CHARISM, an alliance of Catholic universities with distinct but shared values that includes UIW and universities in New York City, Chicago and San Juan, Puerto Rico.
The new León site will offer continuing education programs, executive education, and senior leadership development initiatives for individuals, businesses, and institutions throughout the region. It will also serve as a center for international exchange, innovation, industry partnerships, camps, professional and spiritual retreats, and the development of academic projects with a global perspective. Subject to the University's institutional approval processes and the corresponding regulatory authorizations, UIW also plans to expand its academic offerings in the future to include undergraduate and graduate degree programs.
"With the opening of our newest site in León, we usher in a new era for the University of the Incarnate Word," said Evans. "It will play a very important role in our growing system and represents a new extension of Mission. Through it, we welcome a new community in which we will share our values of education, truth, faith, service and innovation."
Through a 100-year loan-for-use agreement, the new University of the Incarnate Word León will operate from the facilities formerly occupied by Centro Fox, carrying out its educational mission from this location. Accordingly, the University of the Incarnate Word wishes to clarify that this initiative is exclusively academic, educational, and formative in nature. Consistent with its identity as a private, Catholic, nonprofit university, UIW does not participate in or engage in partisan political projects, initiatives, or activities.
University of the Incarnate Word León is the third UIW site in Mexico. UIW already has long-standing campuses in Mexico City and Bajio.
