FRA publishes report on online terrorist content

The EU Agency for Fundamental Rights (FRA) has published a new report examining how the EU's Terrorist Content Online Regulation and its application impact fundamental rights.

The report 'Regulating online terrorist content - Balancing public safety and fundamental rights' draws on the experience of over 60 experts from law enforcement and regulatory agencies, hosting service providers, civil society and academia. It outlines the types of procedures and actors involved, as well as the fundamental rights considerations that arise when addressing terrorist content online.

The publication supports the European Commission's evaluation of the Regulation, and it identifies specific practices that support its application.

The Regulation (EU) 2021/784 on addressing the dissemination of terrorist content online became applicable in 2022.
