BOWLING GREEN POLICE RESPOND TO THEFT OF VEHICLE LEADING TO SHORT PURSUIT

On 10/8/2025 at approximately 7:12 PM, a Bowling Green Police officer made contact with a vehicle stopped in the roadway on Poe Road near N. Prospect. At about this same time, our agency received a 911 call about an attempted carjacking, which was broadcast to officers. The driver of the vehicle was ordered to exit the vehicle and did so. The driver stated she needed help and that the male passenger had entered her car without permission. The passenger then got into the driver's seat and refused commands to exit the vehicle. The vehicle then fled eastbound on E. Poe at a high rate of speed. The vehicle was pursued and subsequently was involved in a 3 vehicle crash at the intersection of Poe and Dunbridge Road. The driver of the stolen vehicle was transported to St. Vincent's Mercy Medical in Toledo, Ohio by ambulance. One occupant from another vehicle was transported to St. Vincent's with non-life threatening injuries. Two other occupants were transported to the Wood County Hospital with minor injuries.

This incident remains under investigation.
