ADSK Stock: Where Compounding Could Take The Price

At $205, Autodesk (ADSK) looks set up for roughly 49% of upside over the next three years under a conservative scenario. Not a moonshot, but enough to matter if the math holds. Revenue compounding does all the work; the multiple is asked to do nothing. Here is the operational reality the math is built on:

Five years ago, the company spent about $1.8 billion on a string of construction acquisitions. That bet has since compounded into a business now worth almost $600 million in annual revenue. This construction segment is still growing north of 20 percent, providing a powerful proof point for the company's M&A playbook. Now, that playbook is being run again at an even larger scale.

This proven ability to build new, compounding revenue lines is why the upside case centers on the top line. Customers are choosing to consolidate fragmented legacy systems onto the Autodesk platform. If the company can repeat its construction success, the revenue trajectory could steepen considerably.

How The Math Gets There

Three projections drive the upside number. Revenue compounds at 15.5% annually over three years, intentionally below today's 18.3% pace, because the recent acceleration is unlikely to extrapolate cleanly over a 3-year horizon. Net margin eases from 19.5% to 18.8% as today's LTM gives back to the longer-run average. The multiple holds near today's 29.3x.

Put those three together and earnings move from $1.5B to roughly $2.2B, a 49% jump. Apply the projected multiple and the stock lands near $302.49, roughly 49% above today.

Can ADSK Pull That Off?

The pending acquisition of MaintainX is the next major revenue catalyst, one not yet in the run-rate. MaintainX is expected to contribute in excess of $135 million of annualized recurring revenue this calendar year. That new stream is compounding with growth in excess of 50 percent.

And what could break it?

Yet a key forward-looking metric on the call suggests a potential drag on growth. Remaining performance obligation growth was just 9 percent. Management acknowledged RPO growth was a bit slower, attributing the change to slightly shorter contract durations.

If You're Buying ADSK At Today's Price

You are paying for steady compounding, not a re-rating and not a margin miracle. The bet is that revenue keeps moving at roughly the projected pace; if it doesn't, the math has nowhere else to turn.

The 9 percent RPO growth signals core deceleration, but the high-growth MaintainX acquisition offers a compelling new compounding engine.

A careful 3-year case on a single name is still a concentrated bet, as historical volatility across past market crises shows. Investors who build analyses like this on individual positions often want the same framework running across a diversified book, partly for discipline, partly because even the cleanest single-stock thesis can break for reasons the math does not capture.

If it is exposure to Nasdaq as a whole you want rather than this one name, a Nasdaq ETF like QQEW covers that single sector. Going broader than any one sector, to a quality-first mix across the whole market, is where the portfolio below comes in.

The Trefis High Quality (HQ) Portfolio combines analytical rigor with a forward-looking view across 30 stocks, with a consistent selection framework and a sizing and re-balancing discipline designed to deliver upside without the single-name risk you just read through here.

By selecting 30 high-conviction stocks, the HQ strategy has historically outpaced a benchmark that combines the three major indices - the S&P 500, S&P Mid-cap, and Russell 2000.
