Summa Health Names Syed Samiullah Chief Digital and Information Officer

Veteran healthcare technology executive will help lead Summa Health's next phase of digital innovation and transformation

AKRON, OH, October 26, 2026 - Summa Health today announced that Syed Samiullah has joined the organization as Chief Digital and Information Officer, effective today. Samiullah brings more than 25 years of healthcare technology and transformation experience and will help lead Summa Health's continued work to build a more connected, technology-enabled health system.

Samiullah most recently served as Chief Information Officer for Optum Health's East Region, where he held a series of leadership roles with expanding enterprise and regional responsibility. His work has spanned technology operations and strategy, clinical and revenue cycle platforms, artificial intelligence and digital health, data and analytics, cybersecurity, and the integration of technology across complex care-delivery environments.

Samiullah joins Summa Health at an important stage in the organization's long-term transformation with General Catalyst's Health Assurance Transformation Company (HATCo). HATCo acquired Summa Health in October 2025 with a shared vision to develop a more proactive, accessible and affordable model of community-based, lifelong healthcare.

In August, Summa Health and HATCo announced the first group of technology companies working with the health system as part of that transformation. These collaborations aim to strengthen areas including clinical decision-making, patient access and engagement, administrative workflows, supply chain, as well as support more coordinated, AI-enabled operations across the organization.
