Sharon Oliver, Ed.D., associate vice chancellor for enrollment management at North Carolina Central University(NCCU), has been elected to serve as national chair of the National Association of Student Financial Aid Administrators (NASFAA)for the 2027-28 term. She will serve as national chair-elect during the 2026-27 term.
NASFAA is the nation's leading organization for student financial aid professionals, advancing policies and practices that promote student access and success in higher education.
Ontario Wooden, Ph.D., provost and vice chancellor for academic affairs, says Oliver's appointment shows her long-standing impact at NCCU and influence across higher education.
"Dr. Oliver combines deep knowledge and experience with a heartfelt dedication to helping students succeed," he said. "Her election as national chair is a well-deserved recognition of the respect she's earned across higher education, and a reminder of how NCCU is making a real difference in the conversation relative affordability and opportunity."
Oliver has served NCCU since 1996 and currently leads the Division of Enrollment Management, overseeing enrollment strategy as well as student aid and scholarship administration. She brings more than 25 years of experience in higher education financial aid and has administered more than $140 million in federal, state and private student assistance. Under her leadership, NCCU surpassed 9,000 students in fall 2025, marking the university's largest enrollment and continuing a trend of record growth.
A nationally recognized leader, Oliver has previously served as president of the Southern Association of Student Financial Aid Administrators and the North Carolina Association of Student Financial Aid Administrators. She holds a bachelor's degree in accounting from South Carolina State University, an MBA from Webster University and a doctorate in educational leadership from Wingate University.
