NASCAR’s In-Season Tournament Begins at Sonoma Raceway on Sunday, June 28

Sonoma Raceway will take center stage as NASCAR launches its In-Season Tournament, bringing a fresh layer of competition to the NASCAR Cup Series beginning Sunday, June 28.

The five-week tournament introduces a single-elimination format that will run through July, featuring the top 32 drivers in the Cup Series competing head-to-head for a $1 million prize. The tournament follows a three-race seeding period, with drivers advancing each week based on their performance against a designated opponent rather than overall race results.

As one of the featured venues in NASCAR's inaugural tournament, Sonoma Raceway's renowned road course will provide a unique challenge for competitors looking to survive and advance. The circuit's elevation changes, technical corners and strategic pit decisions are expected to play a major role in determining which drivers continue their championship pursuit.

"Sonoma has always delivered some of the most competitive racing on the NASCAR schedule, and this tournament format raises the stakes even higher," said Brian Flynn, Executive Vice President and General Manager of Sonoma Raceway. "Fans will have the opportunity to watch drivers battle not only for race victories, but also for advancement in a winner-take-all bracket competition."

The tournament is designed to create added drama during the summer portion of the NASCAR season, giving fans a new way to follow the action as drivers compete in weekly elimination matchups leading to the championship finale.

Race weekend at Sonoma Raceway will feature a full slate of on-track competition, fan activities and entertainment, giving attendees the chance to experience NASCAR's newest format up close. Broadcast coverage of the NASCAR Cup Series event will air nationally on TNT beginning at 12:30 p.m. PT.

Tickets, premium upgrades, camping and parking options are now available at SonomaRaceway.com or by calling (800) 870-RACE [7223].
