District Man Sentenced for Southeast D.C. Fentanyl and Crack Cocaine Trafficking Case Involving Seven Firearms

WASHINGTON - Jerrad Anthony Childs, 27, of the District of Columbia, was sentenced today in U.S. District Court to 72 months in prison in connection with a fentanyl and crack cocaine trafficking operation out of a Southeast Washington apartment that involved seven firearms and body armor, announced U.S. Attorney Jeanine Ferris Pirro.

"Child's apartment was stocked like an arsenal, with seven firearms, hundreds of rounds of ammunition and body armor, all to protect a drug operation that was pumping fentanyl and crack cocaine into our neighborhoods," said U.S. Attorney Pirro. "This office will continue dismantling armed drug-trafficking networks and holding the people who run them accountable."

Childs, aka "heavyglocksosa," pleaded guilty on April 22, 2026, before U.S. District Judge Loren L. AliKhan to one count of possession with intent to distribute fentanyl, crack cocaine and cocaine, and to one count of possessing a firearm during and in relation to a drug trafficking crime. In addition to the 72-month prison term, Judge AliKhan ordered Childs to serve five years of supervised release. Federal prosecutors had requested a prison sentence of 124 months.

According to court papers, on Oct. 7, 2025, law enforcement executed a search warrant at an apartment in the 3900 block of 1st Street SE, a residence used by Childs.

Inside the apartment, law enforcement recovered seven firearms, including several semi-automatic pistols and a rifle with an obliterated serial number, along with 296 rounds of ammunition and tactical body armor.

Investigators also seized about 168 grams of fentanyl, 40 grams of crack cocaine, and 10 grams of cocaine, along with $18,581.99 in cash.

Childs admitted that he possessed the drugs with intent to distribute them and that he used and possessed the firearms in furtherance of that drug trafficking.

The investigation was conducted by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, and the Metropolitan Police Department.

The matter was prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney George Eliopoulos of the Violent Crime and Narcotics Trafficking Section.
