Sen. Ossoff Cosponsoring Bipartisan Legislation to Bolster Scientific Research

Washington, D.C. - U.S. Senator Jon Ossoff is working to pass bipartisan legislation to bolster scientific research nationwide.

Sen. Ossoff cosponsored the bipartisan RESEARCHER Act to support scientific researchers and strengthen the STEM workforce.

The bipartisan bill, first introduced by Sens. Alex Padilla (D-CA) and Jerry Moran (R-KS), aims to help incentivize more students to pursue research careers, and strengthen U.S. competitiveness.

"The United States has long been a global leader in scientific research, and we must continue to expand our research capabilities," Sen. Ossoff said. "This bipartisan legislation will help maintain America's competitiveness on the global stage and support the next generation of researchers and scientists in Georgia and across the Nation."

Sen. Ossoff continues to support Georgia students pursuing careers in STEM and research.

In 2022, Sen. Ossoff won bipartisan support to expand Columbus State University's STEM and robotics programs, securing $635,000 to help expand the partnership between Columbus State University, its Coca-Cola Space Science Center, and the Muscogee County School District.

Also in 2022, Sen. Ossoff led a bicameral group of lawmakers urging Senate and House leadership to maintain a $1.2 billion funding level for HBCUs, Tribal Colleges and Universities (TCUs), and MSIs to boost research and innovation capacity.
