Governor says her administration will shield non-citizens who fraudulently voted in elections from federal authorities.

Senator Jim Holzapfel (R-Monmouth, Ocean) is calling for accountability from Trenton's Democratic Majority after long-held concerns about non-citizens being registered to vote were vindicated after yesterday's reports revealed that thousands of non-citizens were found on New Jersey's voter rolls.

Between 2023 and 2024 the Motor Vehicle Commission improperly registered 6,600 non-citizens to vote and nearly 400 voted in elections.

"When former Governor Phil Murphy signed a law allowing the MVC to automatically register state residents to vote and gave illegals the ability to get driver's licenses, Republicans warned it could lead to improper voter registration and enable non-citizens to cast ballots. Trenton Democrats claimed it could never happen," said Senator Holzpafel. "When the news broke that non-citizens illegally participated in our elections, some Trenton Democrats said hundreds of confirmed fraudulent voters wasn't a big deal and stated that those individuals won't be held accountable. It's clear the problem is much bigger than Democrats care to admit, and it is a larger symptom of the lawlessness allowed to occur under sanctuary state policies. The public deserves transparency and accountability, and I will not rest until our residents receive both."

Senator Holzapfel is also joining fellow Republican senators in calling on the MVC to suspend automatic voter registrations and called on the Legislature to approve voter identification requirements to ensure only eligible voters can cast ballots.
