TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - As Floridians prepare for the holiday season, the Florida Lottery is once again joining the National Council on Problem Gambling's (NCPG) annual Gift Responsibly Campaign to raise awareness about the risks of youth gambling and encourage responsible gift-giving. The Florida Lottery reminds gift-givers that while Lottery tickets may be an exciting gift, they are intended for adults and not for children.
"Lottery games are designed to be entertainment for adults, and it's important that we keep them that way," said Florida Lottery Secretary Reginald D. Dixon. "As we celebrate the holiday season and spend time with the people who matter most, we encourage Floridians to be mindful of the gifts they give and help us reinforce the message that Lottery tickets are not for children. Responsible play starts with all of us."
"Protecting Florida's children from the potential harms of underage gambling is a responsibility we all share," said Florida Gaming Control Commission Executive Director Alana Zimmer. "The holidays are an opportunity to remind families that gambling products are intended for adults. By making responsible choices and keeping these products out of children's hands, we can help promote awareness and support healthier habits for the next generation."
The Florida Lottery's participation in the 2026 Gift Responsibly Campaign is part of its ongoing commitment to responsible play and public education. Throughout November and December, the Florida Lottery will share educational messaging through our social media channels, encouraging Floridians to make responsible choices and help prevent underage gambling. Florida law prohibits the sale of Lottery tickets to anyone under the age of 18.
The Gift Responsibly Campaign brings together lotteries and community organizations across North America and around the world to educate the public about youth gambling risks. Organized by the National Council on Problem Gambling, with support from the North American Association of State and Provincial Lotteries, the campaign emphasizes the importance of keeping Lottery products out of children's hands and promoting responsible play among adults.
