HHSC to Host Hiring Event for El Paso State Supported Living Center

EL PASO - The Texas Health and Human Services Commission is inviting qualified job seekers to learn more about careers at El Paso State Supported Living Center (SSLC) during a hiring event May 5-6.

The center is looking to fill multiple positions, including registered nurses, licensed vocational nurses and health care support staff.

"Our center provides support and care to people with intellectual and developmental disabilities as they face life's challenges," said Laura Moore, director of El Paso SSLC. "We're looking for people who will greet our residents with a smile and provide the excellent care they need. It's rewarding work."

HHSC offers competitive pay and employee benefits. Depending on experience, monthly salaries range from:

  • $5,746 to $7,761 for registered nurses.
  • $4,867 to $6,336 for licensed vocational nurses.
  • $3,048 to $4,150 for health care support staff.

HHSC provides employer-paid health benefits and paid vacation and sick leave.

Interviews will be conducted on site, and conditional offers may be made to qualified candidates. Candidates must pass a background check before they start work.

Applicants must bring approved I-9 documentation, such as a valid driver's license or identification, Social Security card, birth certificate, U.S. passport or permanent resident card.

El Paso SSLC welcomed its first resident in 1975 and is home to approximately 100 residents. It is among 13 state supported living centers throughout Texas providing direct services and supports to people with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Residents receive 24/7 residential services in a structured, campus-based environment. Services include personalized behavioral treatment, primary and specialty health care, psychiatric services, dental care, skills training, day habilitation and employment services.
