KUNDUR BARAT -- PT TIMAH Tbk continues to demonstrate its commitment to strengthening the local economy through community empowerment programs. This time, PT TIMAH Tbk distributed aquaculture support in the form of biofloc systems and tilapia fingerlings to the Perigi Tempayan 2 Group in Gemuruh Village, Kundur Barat District.
Perigi Tempayan 2 is a community-based business group engaged in fish and cattle farming. Currently, the group's main focus is developing fish cultivation using the biofloc system, with tilapia as the primary commodity previously proposed by the group.
Established approximately four years ago, the group consists of around 10 members. They chose to implement the biofloc system to improve feed efficiency in aquaculture activities.
The head of the Perigi Tempayan 2 Group, Azmi, stated that the biofloc assistance from PT TIMAH Tbk helps make the cultivation system more efficient and cost-effective. Biofloc technology allows feed to be utilized optimally, thereby reducing operational costs and increasing production yields.
He also expressed his appreciation for PT TIMAH Tbk's support, noting that the assistance is highly meaningful as it opens up new income opportunities for group members.
"We are truly grateful and did not expect to receive this assistance. At the very least, the group now has productive activities and an additional source of income. We hope that the harvest can later be sold and help improve the community's economy," he said.
Looking ahead, the Perigi Tempayan 2 Group hopes that this aquaculture program will run smoothly and sustainably, allowing it to be expanded further and serve as a foundation for proposing other business development programs.
Through this assistance, PT TIMAH Tbk hopes to encourage economic self-reliance in rural communities and support the development of sustainable productive enterprises within the company's operational areas.
