For nearly two decades, the State Journal has recognized the Mountain State's finest individuals who represent the state's spirit of hard work, teamwork, and service to others. This year, the publication honored UC Vice President of Marketing & Communications C.J. Harvey as one of West Virginia's rising leaders, experts, and decision-makers.
Harvey previously served as Director of Communications for former West Virginia Governor Jim Justice, overseeing statewide branding and messaging initiatives across multiple state agencies. He co-founded Mountaineer Media, a digital platform dedicated to sharing the West Virginia experience through positive storytelling and innovative content development. He also worked as an anchor and reporter for WCHS-TV, receiving an Edward R. Murrow award for breaking news coverage, an Emmy nomination, and an Associated Press award for his high school and college athletics coverage.
His most recent accomplishment has been earning both an Emmy and several Telly Awards for the UC Adventure Guide, a concept that the MarCom office brought to life.
