Project staff are conducting site visits for properties within the Columbia Corridor Industrial Lands Ezone Project area. The deadline to request a site visit for Planning Commission consideration is January 28th.
You can request a site visit in the following ways:
• Through the project's Map App
• By email - [email protected]
• By phone - 503-823-4225
Since 2023, City staff working on the Columbia Corridor and Industrial Lands Ezone Project have been offering site visits to confirm or correct natural resource mapping in the project area. To date, project staff have conducted over 50 site visits.
During site visits, project staff review natural resource mapping on a site.
If an error in the natural resource mapping is identified, updates are made to the Natural Resource Inventory to address any errors. Based on any updates to natural resources on the site, adjustments to the proposed environmental overlay zones may be made.
Any proposed edits as a result of site visits will be presented to the Planning Commission as an amendment package at an upcoming work session. The Planning Commission will review and vote on amendments.
To ensure that the Planning Commission is able to consider any recommended environmental overlay zone modifications resulting from these site visits, staff are asking that all site visit requests be submitted by January 28th.
Staff will continue to offer site visits throughout the life of the project. However, site visits requested after January 28th will be considered by City Council.
Improved technology and onsite ground-truthing has led to more detailed and accurate mapping of natural areas in the Columbia Corridor and other locations throughout the city. As a result, there is a need to update the protections to those areas.
This Columbia Corridor Industrial Lands Environmental Overlay Zone Project proposes modifications to the application of environmental overlay zones, also known as ezones, in the Columbia Corridor and other industrial areas. This effort will ensure the protection of significant natural features in the project area, while also considering economic development in the project area.
