Entrepreneurs looking to make a difference in their communities will have an opportunity to turn their ideas into reality at this year's Spark Tank competition at Fresno Pacific University on October 23, 2026. This year marks the first time in the event's history that the competition will include a separate Spanish-language round.
Hosted by FPU's Center for Community Transformation (CCT), the 12th annual Spark Tank Pitch Fest will take place in Ashley Auditorium on the university's main campus, 1717 S. Chestnut Ave., Fresno. The English-language round begins at 3:00 p.m., followed by the Spanish-language round at 5:30 p.m.
Entrepreneurs will present their social business plans to a panel of judges, competing for startup capital, mentorship and other resources to help launch or grow their businesses.
Unlike traditional businesses that focus primarily on generating a profit, social enterprises seek to address community needs as well. These businesses aim to create positive social or environmental change while providing quality products or services.
"Spark Tank is about more than funding a great business idea," said Bryan Feil, associate director of Center for Community Transformation. "It is about investing in entrepreneurs and organizations that are using business as a tool to address real needs in our communities."
Since launching in 2013, Spark Tank has invested more than $100,000 and helped support more than 50 social enterprises.
"We want to elevate ideas that can be financially sustainable while creating meaningful and lasting social impact," Feil said.
The addition of a Spanish-language competition this year expands the event's reach, creating opportunities for Spanish-speaking entrepreneurs to share their ideas and compete to bring them to life.
