Washington, D.C. - Congresswoman Hoyle is pleased to have helped secure a commitment from Admiral Lunday to ensure the entirety of the Oregon coast's needs are being met.
On April 2, 2025, Admiral Lunday responded to Congresswoman Hoyle's original request from February 10, 2026. The original letter expressed concern over the current level of coverage along the Gold Beach and Bandon communities.
"The commitment to analyze the data and ensure the entire coast's needs are being met is great news," said Congresswoman Val Hoyle. "I want to thank the Coast Guard for their continued service to our communities. Without them, our way of life wouldn't be possible."
Congresswoman Hoyle added, "More than 23,000 boaters pass through Coquille Bay each year. And the waters at the mouth of the Rogue River, where it meets the Pacific, are some of the most dangerous on the Oregon Coast. Reliable, fast Coast Guard service here is a matter of life and death for our communities. I'm heartened that Admiral Lunday agrees."
The original letter to the Admiral can be found here.
