Democrat Brian Nathan Flips Trump +7 Seat in Florida SD-14 Special Election Arrow

In yet another major victory for Florida Democrats, Democrat Brian Nathan has officially flipped Florida Senate District 14, a seat that Donald Trump won by 7 points. With Nathan's win, Democrats have now flipped 30 legislative seats since Trump retook office, while Republicans have flipped zero.

In red, blue, and purple districts alike, voters are putting their faith in strong Democratic candidates like Nathan who will fight to lower their costs and protect health care, which Donald Trump and Republicans continue to attack. In Florida alone, more than 1.5 million people are at risk of losing their health care because of Trump's Big Ugly Bill and refusal to extend the ACA tax credits, while families are paying hundreds of dollars more for the basics, including $140 more on electricity and $1 more per gallon at the gas pump.

In response to Nathan's victory, DNC Chair Ken Martin released the following statement:

"Florida voters sent a clear message to Donald Trump and Republicans: They are ready for change. In yet another stunning upset victory for Democrats and warning sign for Republicans, Sen.-elect Brian Nathan flipped a Trump +7 seat by remaining focused on lowering costs and protecting Floridians' health care. As we enter the 2026 midterms, Democrats have the wind at our backs and we will continue contesting seats up and down the ballot across Florida and the country. No Republican-held seat is safe."
