Spirit Airlines Marks 10-Year Partnership with Honor Flight by Renewing Commitment in Support of South Florida Veterans

Continues the tradition of flying veterans to visit memorials dedicated to their service in Washington, D.C.

DANIA BEACH, Fla., Nov. 10, 2025 - Spirit Airlines is proud to recommit to its longstanding partnership with Honor Flight South Florida, an all-volunteer organization dedicated to honoring veterans in Broward, Miami-Dade and Monroe counties. Since starting the partnership in 2015, Spirit has operated more than 20 honor flights and flown more than 1,000 veterans to visit the memorials in Washington, D.C., built in honor of their brave service. In 2019, Spirit committed to operating four honor flights a year and has continued the cadence ever since, with four honor flights from Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport (FLL) planned for 2026.

"Honor Flight South Florida provides incredibly meaningful experiences for the veterans in our hometown, and we're honored to continue playing a role in commemorating their brave service," said John Bendoraitis, Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer at Spirit Airlines. "We extend our deepest gratitude to the veterans across our nation for their courage and sacrifice and to the community partners who join forces with us to support our heroes."

Spirit is dedicated to making a difference in the lives of those who have served or are currently serving the country by partnering with a variety of organizations to help service members reconnect with loved ones, receive education, start new careers and more. Honor Flight South Florida continues to be one of the airline's most significant partnerships, creating meaningful and deserving experiences for those who served in World War II, the Korean War and the Vietnam War.

"By partnering with Spirit Airlines over the last decade, we've been able to fly thousands of South Florida's oldest and most revered WWII, Korean War, and Vietnam War Heroes at no cost to the Veteran, to ensure they get the opportunity to visit and experience the memorials built in their honor," said Ryan Paton, Co-Founder & Director of Operations at Honor Flight South Florida. "We look forward to continuing our partnership and flying even more of our local veterans to give them the experiences they deserve."

Beyond its community partnerships, Spirit offers Guests who are active-duty U.S. military service members benefits, including their spouses and children when traveling with the service member. With a verified military ID, veterans are eligible for two free standard checked bags, one free standard carry-on bag, Priority Boarding and the existing one free personal item per person. Families traveling under this policy are also offered complimentary Priority Boarding.
