2026-2027 Population Health Research Conference: Call for Speakers

About the Conference

The University of Tennessee Health Sciences Colleges of Medicine and Nursing, the Department of Preventive Medicine, and the Tennessee Population Health Consortium invite researchers, clinicians, educators, public health professionals, and population health leaders to submit topics and/or proposals to speak at the 2026-2027 Population Health Research Conference Series.

This conference serves as a statewide forum for advancing population health research, promoting health equity, sharing innovative evidence-based practices, and fostering interdisciplinary collaboration among professionals dedicated to improving community and population health outcomes.

The Population Health Research Conference is designed to bring together professionals interested in population health research sciences across Tennessee. The series welcomes presentations that highlight successful, sustainable, and impactful research studies, research in progress, interventions, programs, quality improvement initiatives, and evidence-based practices that advance health outcomes and health equity.

The target audience includes:

• Academics and health researchers
• Physicians, nurses, pharmacists, and allied health professionals
• Residents and fellows
• Medical and nursing students
• Public health practitioners
• Other healthcare professionals with interest in population health research and practice

Proposed Conference Dates

Speakers are invited to participate in one of the following scheduled sessions:

• September 22, 2026
• November 10, 2026
• February 2, 2027
• April 6, 2027

Alternate presentation dates may be accommodated based on speaker availability and scheduling considerations.

Suggested Presentation Topics

Topics of interest include, but are not limited to:

• Population health research methodologies and study design
• Research on social determinants of health and upstream drivers of health outcomes
• Health equity and health disparities research
• Community-based and translational research
• Quality improvement initiatives with population-level impact
• Implementation science and dissemination strategies
• Interdisciplinary and team-based approaches to population health
• Innovative interventions that improve community and population health outcomes

Presentation Format

Conference sessions will be approximately 90 minutes, beginning at 11:30 a.m., and include lunch and networking time. Speakers will typically be asked to:

• Deliver a 30-35 minutes presentation
• Participate in 25-30 minutes of audience discussion and Q&A
• Provide 3-5 discussion questions to stimulate engagement and exchange of ideas

Continuing Education Credit

Continuing education credit will be available to attendees, including:

• AMA PRA Category 1 Credit™ for physicians
• Nursing Continuing Professional Development (NCPD) credit
