WPD to Review Grand Jury Findings on Arrest and Transport Procedures

A report released today, June 18, 2025, by the Santa Cruz County Civil Grand Jury takes a close look at how the Watsonville Police Department handles certain arrests and transport procedures.

We've worked closely with the Grand Jury throughout their review process and appreciate the time and effort they dedicated to researching this important matter.

The 17-page report includes several recommendations that require careful consideration. In the coming weeks, our police administrative team will thoroughly review the report.

Our mission, here at the Watsonville Police Department, has always been and continues to be the safety and well-being of our community. We remain committed to building trust, reducing trauma where possible, and maintaining strong relationships with those we serve, while also prioritizing the health and safety of our Officers and Staff.
