Celebrate with the SBU Community at CommUniversity Day September 27

Join fellow members of the Stony Brook University community and visitors from the surrounding area at the annual CommUniversity Day celebration on Saturday, September 27.

The annual, festival-style event has become a favorite SBU tradition, and will be held on the Academic Mall from noon to 4 pm. An indoor rain plan is in place for the same day in the Stony Brook Arena.

The second annual LEGO competition will feature LEGO enthusiasts building creations that exemplify their vision of community. The day will conclude with the ever-popular Duck Race at 3:30 pm.

The schedule of activities will also include Appliance Autopsy, the ice cream social, line dancing, chair yoga, a tree tour, and musical performances from Music and Medicine and The Stony Brook High C's. President Andrea Goldsmith will address the attendees from the main stage.

CommUniversity Day features several "neighborhoods" that include events and activities with a common theme. The neighborhoods are: Arts, Community, Find Out in 15, Food, Health, Safety, Tech and Discovery, and Traditions.

Wellness will be front and center with a variety of health information and screenings available. Other popular activities in this neighborhood include the Teddy Bear Clinic and Story Time with the Tooth Fairy.

An array of food trucks will be on hand, along with products from Stony Brook's Food Business Incubator at Calverton. All campus dining locations will also be open.

Last year, 2,000 attendees from both the internal and external community were on campus for CommUniversity Day. More than 100 individuals, clubs and departments from the university, Stony Brook Medicine and nonprofit community partners were featured.
