Local Ophthalmology Practices to Join MaineHealth Family

BELFAST & ROCKPORT, Maine - MaineHealth Pen Bay and Waldo Hospitals are pleased to announce that three local ophthalmologists will officially join the MaineHealth family early next month.

Beginning Monday, February 2, the team at Mid Coast Vision Care, including ophthalmologists Lyndon Morgan, MD, Serena Morrison, MD, and Lynne Kaplinsky, MD, will become part of MaineHealth when the practice locations at 158 Northport Ave., Belfast, and 96 Maverick Street, Rockland, transition to MaineHealth Ophthalmology.

According to Denice Kronholm, director of practice operations for the new MaineHealth Ophthalmology practices, patients can expect continuity of care.

"The existing teams will remain in place at both locations, and all current surgical and non-surgical services will continue," Kronholm said. "Aligning these practices with Pen Bay and Waldo Hospitals ensures high-quality ophthalmology services stay local, provides a consistent experience for patients and creates opportunities for growth in the future. We are thrilled to welcome these talented physicians and their teams to MaineHealth."

As part of the transition, MaineHealth is investing in modern, high-performing diagnostic equipment, upgrades that will allow the practices to expand services and deliver more precise, efficient and comfortable care to the community. This new equipment was made possible through philanthropic support, a major driver in helping the hospital invest in new technologies.

"We are deeply grateful to this longtime community member for their generous, anonymous gift. This donor has a history of quiet giving, and they shared how happy they are that their investment ensures our friends and neighbors can receive advanced eye care close to home," said Amy McNaughton, director of philanthropic initiatives at MaineHealth Pen Bay and Waldo Hospitals. "Their commitment to Waldo Hospital's long-term health made this project possible, and it will benefit our community for years to come."

MaineHealth Ophthalmology Belfast is currently hiring for two ophthalmic technician positions, and MaineHealth Ophthalmology Rockland is seeking one ophthalmic technician. For more information or to apply, visit mainehealth.org/careers.
