NASSAU, The Bahamas -- After the passage of Tropical Storm Imelda, Prime Minister and Minister of Finance, the Hon. Philip Davis, cabinet ministers, and government officials, September 30, 2025 visited Pinewood Gardens, Nassau Village, and Yamacraw Beach Estates to view the flooding issues there. Severe flooding occurred in lower and vulnerable areas of New Providence in the wake of rainfall that drenched the capital particularly Sunday night. The Tropical Depression that became Tropical Storm Imelda through the weekend to Monday morning impacted the Central and the Northern Bahamas. Cleanup is in process as workplaces re-open, and schools have begun to welcome students. Pumps are being deployed to relieve the flooding, as residents recover from the storm. The Disaster Risk Management Authority in its wrapup press conference, Tuesday afternoon, at their offices declared that overall, the country fared well with no loss of life. State Minister Leon Lundy, who oversees Disaster Risk Management, commended adequate preparation and coordination by emergency management teams.
