Earlier this week, North Carolina Gov. Josh Stein told multiple lies about the efforts of federal law enforcement to combat violent illegal immigrants in our country.
Lie #1: Stein says American citizens are being detained
FACT: The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) published the facts about a man in Arizona who turned himself in to Border Patrol and told agents he entered the U.S. illegally. He completed a sworn statement identifying as a Mexican citizen who had entered unlawfully. He was processed and appeared in court on April 11. Afterwards, he was held by the U.S. Marshals in Florence, Arizona. A few days later, his family presented documents showing U.S. citizenship. The charges were dismissed, and he was released to his family.
Lie #2: Stein says senior citizens are being assaulted
FACT: DHS debunked these outlandish claims made by Illinois Gov. JB Pritzker (the NC Democrat Socialists' large attraction earlier this year) during Operation Midway Blitz. During the targeted operation, more than 1,000 illegal aliens were arrested.
Lie #3: Stein says ICE is 'going after' peaceful protestors
FACT: Following a terrorist attack at a Dallas ICE facility in September, over 200 rioters blocked access to one of the gates in front of an Illinois processing center and another 30 have swarmed another gate and are attempting to forcibly and illegally trespass on federal property, according to DHS. These rioters arrived with boxes of fireworks, N-95 masks, gas masks, goggles, knee and elbow protection, and large quantities of food and water. These lawless rioters began chanting "Arrest ICE, Shoot ICE" and one of the rioters was apprehended with a gun and it was confiscated by law enforcement.
Lie #4: Stein says federal law enforcement officers are wearing masks and not using identification
FACT: ICE law enforcement officers will wear masks to prevent doxxing, which can (and has) placed them and their families at risk. All ICE law enforcement officers carry badges and credentials and will identify themselves when required for public safety or legal necessity. Following a more than 1,000% increase in assaults against them, including vehicles being used as weapons towards them, law enforcement officers conduct operations clearly identifying themselves as law enforcement while wearing masks to protect themselves from being targeted by highly sophisticated gangs like Tren de Aragua and MS-13, criminal rings, murderers, and rapists. Officers also wear vests marked with ICE/ERO or Homeland Security and are flanked by vehicles marked with the name of the department.
BOTTOM LINE: Stein is sowing chaos and fear about legitimate law enforcement operations targeting violent criminal illegals and drug traffickers. As North Carolina's so-called "top cop" for eight years, he failed to reduce violent crime in our state, and as governor, he has seen homicide rates skyrocket on his watch. Governor Stein must stop lying about the heroic men and women who work every day to make cities and communities safer across our country.
