High-end Project: Successful acceptance for Taishan Gypsum's gypsum fiberboard production line made by Siempelkamp

On September 4th, 2026, there was triumphant news from Asia's first high-end gypsum fiberboard production line set to become one of the largest in the world: The production line, developed in deep collaboration between Taishan Gypsum and Siempelkamp, has been successfully accepted.

This achievement is the result of seven years of dedicated technological breakthroughs at Taishan Gypsum. It has not only filled a domestic gap in China but has also addressed a critical technological void across the entire Asian region.

From the signing of the contract in January 2025 to the smooth start of construction in August of the same year, the project teams on both sides worked together to complete the installation of the equipment and commence initial trial production within just six months. The acceptance took place another seven months later. Particularly noteworthy is the close collaboration between Siempelkamp's technical experts and Taishan Gypsum's research team: They worked side by side to overcome multiple challenges including equipment commissioning and process optimization.

Representing an investment of 530 million RMB, this pioneering production line boasts an annual design capacity of 20 million m². Integrating advanced Siempelkamp equipment technology with Taishan Gypsum's R&D strengths, the production line utilises the world-leading ContiRoll® continuous wet pressing process in combination with efficient drying technology. With a fully automated process flow - from the mixing of ingredients through the forming to quality control - the production line impressively demonstrates the technical expertise and synergistic effectiveness of Taishan Gypsum and Siempelkamp.

The boards are made from gypsum derived from flue gas desulphurisation (FGD gypsum) as the base material, with recycled plant fibers acting as a reinforcing agent. The desulfurized gypsum is derived from fuel residues from power plants and, according to the customer, is 100% recycled. The boards comply with local ENF environmental standards and fire protection class A1. The raw material used by Taishan Gypsum includes recycled cardboard and a variety of recycled materials, such as pulp residues from paper mills. These are processed into paper fibers and used in gypsum boards. The boards are free from harmful substances and offer high strength as well as resistance to water and moisture. At full production capacity, the plant will process over 300,000 metric tons of industrial solid waste annually and reduce CO2 emissions according to Taishan Gypsum by around 16,000 metric tons per year.

The boards have already been utilized in multiple high-end projects. Plans are in place to commission nine additional production lines in China during the 15th Five-Year Plan period, bringing total production capacity to 200 million m². With this initiative, Taishan Gypsum aims to establish one of the world's largest gypsum fiberboard manufacturing bases. This will not only consolidate China's leading position in the global gypsum board industry but also further deepen the outcomes of technological cooperation between Taishan Gypsum and Siempelkamp.

This project represents the high-quality and intelligent transformation of a specific industrial sector and opens a new chapter in the joint innovative strength of both partners. "Our thanks go to Taishan Gypsum for their trust and foresight, and to our team for their tireless dedication," says Kosta Karakolidis, CEO Siempelkamp Qingdao. Samiron Mondal, CEO BU Capital, G. Siempelkamp GmbH & Co. KG, adds: "We are proud to be partnering with Taishan Gypsum on such an ambitious project that sets new benchmarks in all areas - size, technological progress, and innovation."
