Officials with the NC Department of Adult Correction (NCDAC) have promoted Bill Woolard to Division Director in Judicial Division 1, effective April 6.

In his new position, Woolard will lead Community Supervision operations in the 1st Judicial Division, which covers 32 counties in the eastern and coastal portions of the state.

"Bill Woolard's steady leadership and knack for team building have benefited our agency for more than 20 years," said Leslie Cooley Dismukes, secretary for the Department of Adult Correction. "His efforts have led to safer communities and successful supervision outcomes."

"Bill Woolard has devoted his entire career to Division 1 and I admire his dedicated service," said Tracy K. Lee, chief deputy secretary of Community Supervision. "His division covers a large portion of the state and he does a great job keeping all the districts connected and focused on public safety."

Woolard began his career with Community Supervision in 1999 as a probation/parole officer in Pitt County. Most recently, he served as the Assistant Division Director for Division 1. Prior to that, he was the Assistant Judicial District Manager, overseeing probation and parole operations in the 3rd Judicial District, covering Craven, Carteret, Onslow, Pamlico and Pitt counties.
