TA Waiver

PUBLIC NOTICE

The Alabama Medicaid Agency is seeking public comments on the proposed renewal application for the Technology Assisted (TA) Waiver. The TA Waiver provides individuals with specific diagnoses and related illnesses home and community-based services in the community who would otherwise require nursing facility care. The Alabama Medicaid Agency (Alabama Medicaid) is the Administering Agency and serves as the Operating Agency for the TA Waiver.

The target population for the waiver is specific to individuals who are 21 years of age or older with complex skilled medical conditions. These individuals have a medical history of being ventilator-dependent or have a tracheostomy.

The renewal application proposes to make the following changes:

  • Services and supports that were previously available through Assistive Technology will continue to be available through the Specialized Medical Equipment service, and;
  • Individual Goods and Services has been removed as a separate waiver service; participants will continue to access approved goods and services through the Personal Choices budget process

A copy of the proposed action can be accessed at www.medicaid.alabama.gov. Hard copies of the application are posted for review inside Alabama Medicaid District Offices.

Written comments on the proposed action must be submitted to the agency by July 6, 2026. Via mail to:
