The Houston Arboretum & Nature Center is a 155-acre nature sanctuary located in the heart of urban Houston, providing vital protection for native plants and animals amidst the city's development. As one of the first nature education facilities for children in Texas, the Arboretum serves over 400,000 visitors annually and offers nature education to more than 10,000 children each year. With its diverse habitats, including woodland, meadow, savanna, and wetland, the Arboretum is a hub for conservation and environmental education.
In April 2026, Main Street was proud to sponsor the Houston Arboretum & Nature Center's 2026 Alfresco Gala. The annual event brought together community members and supporters to celebrate the Arboretum's mission of protecting Houston's native habitats and providing environmental education to thousands of children and families each year. The gala raised more than $500,000 to support conservation efforts and educational programming. During the evening, Main Street was honored to receive the Greenleaf Award in recognition of our ongoing commitment to the Houston Arboretum & Nature Center and its mission.
