Director-General of European Affairs Department co-chairs 6th Thailand - Türkiye Political Consultations

On 18 August 2025, Mrs. Krongkanit Rakcharoen, Director-General of the Department of European Affairs, and H.E. Mr. Korkut Güngen, Director-General of the Department of Asia-Pacific, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Türkiye, co-chaired the 6th Political Consultations at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Türkiye in Ankara. Also in attendance was H.E. Mr. Apirat Sugondhabhirom, Ambassador of Thailand to the Republic of Türkiye.

Both sides reviewed bilateral relations and discussed ways to enhance cooperation under the 2nd Joint Plan of Action (2023 - 2028), focusing on defence, trade and investment, education, green energy, and security. They also discussed important regional and global developments and multilateral cooperation. The Director-General took this opportunity to brief the Turkish side on the Thailand - Cambodia border situation.

In addition, the Director-General also had discussions with experts at the Turkish Foreign Policy Institute (FPI) in Ankara to exchange views on Türkiye's foreign policy and role as mediator, as well as leading academics and business representatives in Istanbul to discuss ways to further strengthen Thailand - Türkiye relations.
