Ross Burkhart, professor of political science, was interviewed by CNN Portugal for the article "4 De Julho Nos EAU: Menos Entusiasmo Do Que Em Anos Anteriores," translated as "4th of July in the U.S.: Less Enthusiasm Than In Previous Years."
Burkhart's commentary referenced a perspective that surmises the Founding Fathers would likely be slightly disturbed about the continued acquisition of the power of the American Executive Branch over the past half-century, as the Founders sought to limit powers of any one branch of government in order to avoid tyranny.
Burkhart also opined that as democracy is under pressure in the U.S., and has been for some time, the public is starting to pay attention to this issue.
