As of October 12, the Florida Department of Health confirmed four locally transmitted cases of dengue fever in the Apopka area and one in Pine Hills. Orange County Mosquito Control will conduct aerial mosquito spraying in these areas to mitigate the mosquito population and prevent the spread of dengue.
Spraying is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m. Friday, October 16, weather permitting. With thunderstorms possible across Orange County, some or all treatments could be postponed until 7 p.m. Saturday, October 17.
Residents can stay informed about dengue cases and mosquito spraying schedules by following the county on social media, visiting its arbovirus monitoring webpage, and signing up for free text and email alerts from OC Alert.
