Congressman Thompson Announces More Than $8.6 Million in Federal Funding for Mississippi Early Childhood Education and Health Programs

BOLTON, MS - Congressman Bennie Thompson announced that the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) has awarded more than $8.6 million in federal funding to organizations serving communities across Mississippi. These investments will strengthen access to primary healthcare services and expand early childhood education opportunities for children and families throughout the state.

The grant awards include:

  • Community Health Center Association of Mississippi - $1,756,416 through the State and Regional Primary Care Associations Program to support and strengthen community health centers across Mississippi.
  • Delta Health Alliance, Inc. - $4,715,642 through the Head Start Program to provide comprehensive early childhood education, health, nutrition, and family support services to eligible children and families.
  • Delta Health Alliance, Inc. - $2,191,380 through the Early Head Start-Child Care Partnerships Program to expand access to high-quality early learning opportunities for infants, toddlers, and their families.
