JERUSALEM - U.S. Senator Rick Scott, member of the U.S. Senate Armed Services and Foreign Relations committees, traveled to Israel to reaffirm the United States' commitment to supporting Israel and maintaining a strong alliance and partnership. During the visit, Senator Scott met with Israeli Foreign Minister Gideon Sa'ar. He also met with members of the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF), U.S. servicemen and women, and U.S. Department of War (DOW) personnel to discuss U.S.-Israeli collaboration, including projects to secure the U.S. southern border.
Senator Scott also traveled to the Golan Heights and Israel's Northern Command. During the visit, Senator Scott was briefed by U.S. and Israeli military on operations in southern Lebanon. He also met with Dolan Abu Saleh, Mayor of Majdal Shams, and bereaved families in the Druze community who lost children during the Hezbollah attack on a soccer field that killed 12 innocent children in July of 2024.
Senator Rick Scott said, "From business partnerships to healthcare and medicine production, to defense technology, America's partnership with Israel is the model of how America First alliances should operate. Too many people in America have lost sight of the fact that Israel is the good guy and that Qatar, Iran, including its proxies Hamas and Hezbollah, are the bad guys who indiscriminately target and murder innocent people. Israel faces life-or-death threats every day, and innovation is what helps them deter and defeat our shared enemies. Israel holds up its side of the alliance, and we will continue to collaborate and share what we learn so we both get stronger. This partnership will maintain safety for our countries and economic advances to create jobs. I remain proud to call our friends in Israel a trusted partner and ally."
This is Senator Scott's seventh trip to Israel since he was elected Governor of Florida in 2010. Click here to view a list of Senator Scott's actions since the October 7, 2023, attacks.
Senator Scott's time in Israel follows his recent visits to Cyprus and Greece.
