MPO Now Accepting Grant Applications for Section 5310 Transit Projects for Seniors and Individuals with Special Needs

The Greensboro Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO) announces the availability of fiscal year (FY) 2026 Section 5310 funding and is accepting applications from area transit agencies and eligible nonprofit organizations. Eligible applicants include GTA, Guilford County Transportation and Mobility Services, PART, and nonprofit organizations currently providing qualifying services within the Greensboro MPO area.

Approximately $374,737 is available to support eligible transit projects in fiscal year 2026. The final funding amount is subject to change. Applications must be received by the close of business on April 11, 2026. The program provides funding to support transit operating costs identified in the MPO's adopted Coordinated Human Services Transportation Plan. Applications are available at www.guampo.org.

Section 5310 candidate projects will be reviewed and considered for funding by the MPO Transportation Advisory Committee on Wednesday, April 29, 2026, at 2:00 PM. The meeting will be held online. For more information or to request a grant application, contact Joseph Castelda at [email protected] or 336-373-2865.

The MPO coordinates transportation planning for much of Guilford County, including the City of Greensboro and the Towns of Oak Ridge, Pleasant Garden, Sedalia, Stokesdale, and Summerfield. Burlington, Gibsonville, Whitsett, High Point, and Jamestown are outside the MPO's planning area. The MPO's policy board contains elected officials from Greensboro, Guilford County and area Towns, along with a member of the North Carolina Board of Transportation.
