Speaker Carl Heastie continued his annual statewide tour today with Assemblymember Patrick Burke at Our Lady of Victory National Shrine and Basilica, announcing $1.2 million to aid in the restoration of the building's dome.

"One of the great parts of my statewide tour is being able to visit unique historic sites," Speaker Heastie said. "Our Lady of Victory is an integral part of the community here and a destination for people from around the world. This funding will help maintain the integrity and beauty of this historic location."

"It means a lot to have Speaker Heastie here to announce support for the Basilica's dome restoration," Assemblymember Burke said. "This place isn't just a landmark, it's part of the fabric of our community. Generations of families have come here to worship, celebrate and find hope. This restoration project ensures that tradition continues for decades to come."

Speaker Heastie and Assemblymember Burke toured the Our Lady of Victory National Shrine and Basilica, announcing $1.2 million in funding that will help restore the building's dome, which has sustained damage over a century of harsh weather. In 2024, Our Lady of Victory was placed on the National Register of Historic Places and the New York State Register of Historic Places. The shrine serves as a destination for pilgrims and visitors from around the world.
