Deceased individuals identified after July 30 crash near Highway 83 and Powers Boulevard

On July 30, 2026, at approximately 5:16 p.m., the Colorado Springs Police Department (CSPD) was notified of a traffic crash at Highway 83 and Powers Boulevard. The preliminary investigation revealed that a Ford F-350 pulling a dump trailer was traveling eastbound on Highway 83. A Kia Niro made a left turn from westbound Highway 83 onto southbound Powers Boulevard.

The front of the Ford pickup truck struck the passenger side of the Kia. The driver of the Kia was pronounced deceased at the scene. The passenger of the Kia was transported to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries. The driver of the Ford pickup truck suffered minor injuries but declined transportation to a local hospital. Due to the nature of the injuries, the Major Crash Team was notified and assumed the investigation. On July 31, 2026, detectives learned the passenger of the Kia also died as a result of their injuries. Speed and alcohol are not considered to be factors in this crash.

On August 6, 2026, CSPD was notified by the El Paso County Coroner's Office that the deceased driver of the Kia had been positively identified as 38-year-old Allysa Burgoon, also known as Allysa Chrisman. The deceased passenger of the Kia was positively identified by the Coroner's Office as a 17-year-old juvenile male.

This incident marks the 37th and 38th traffic fatality in Colorado Springs in 2026. At this time last year, the city experienced 34 traffic fatalities. Over the past 365 days, there have been 57 traffic-related fatalities within the city.
