Salina - U.S. Senator Roger Marshall, M.D. (R-Kansas), spent Friday in the Flint Hills, visiting communities across 4 counties. From communities and housing projects to local businesses, he had a chance to hear more about the unique challenges and wins in the region.

Community Briefing in Wamego

Senator Marshall visited Wamego for a community briefing with City Manager Stacie Eichman to learn more about their work on housing and other recent developments within the community. He highlighted the ongoing work in Washington, D.C., to streamline housing and zoning regulations.
Solar Turbines Tour

Senator Marshall toured the new Solar Turbines facility in Wamego, at the former Caterpillar plant. Solar Turbines is the largest manufacturer of 1 to 39 megawatt industrial gas turbines in the world and bringing the company's work to Wamego in 2025 was a win for the community.

Senator Marshall also stopped at Martin Cooney Stoneworks Gallery in Council Grove. Owners Kelly and Jill Judd are working with artist Martin Cooney to create a world-class stone carving facility. Cooney's works are primarily in Kansas limestone as well as Colorado Yule Marble.
Marion Die and Fixture

Senator Marshall toured Marion Die and Fixture in Marion, part of the Bradbury Group, which manufactures equipment to create sheet metal parts for industries producing garage doors, guttering, grain bins, HVAC, lighting, and more. He discussed the company's work with students and support for hand-on learning and training opportunities.
Cottonwood Falls Housing Project

Senator Marshall's last stop of the day was in Cottonwood Falls to tour its innovative housing development. The Flint Hills Development Group utilized Historic Tax Credits to convert a former elementary school into housing, providing ten new units for the community, all of which are being utilized.
