USDA Announces Value-Added Producer Grant to Hadrick Ranch

(Huron, S.D., September 24, 2026) - U.S. Department of Agriculture Rural Development South Dakota State Director Lorraine Polak today announced USDA is providing $133,900 through USDA's Value-Added Producer Grant program to Hadrick Ranch, LLC for processing angus beef cattle into custom beef products in Faulkton.

"This investment helps our farmers and ranchers to be recognized for their quality products that are grown and made right here in South Dakota," said Polak. "The funding helps expand market opportunities by adding value to their products. And this is done by helping them to be innovative, reach new customers, build long term growth, and meet market demand." [Polak Audio, MP3, 20s]

Recipients can use these grant funds to develop value-added agricultural products, conduct market research, and implement business and marketing strategies. Hadrick Ranch will use the funding as working capital to process the beef and support marketing and direct-to-consumer sales at a storefront location to be announced later in Sioux Falls.

"This grant from Rural Development is going to give us an opportunity to really bring our locally raised beef to where people live in the state," said Hadrick Ranch owner Troy Hadrick. "We really think it's important because it has so many ripple effects in our state. Those cattle are born and raised here in Faulk County. Everything from the feed that we purchased, to the work we do with our veterinarian, everything down to the welding shop, that all has ripples. USDA Rural Development is investing over $26.5 million in 194 agricultural projects across the country, with $11.6 million going to 80 beef producer projects.
