Grow Your Own Teacher Registered Apprenticeship Expansion Grant

The Vermont Agency of Education, in partnership with the Vermont Department of Labor and the National Center for Grow Your Own (NCGYO) , is pleased to announce the Vermont Grow Your Own Teacher Registered Apprenticeship Expansion Grant .

This new competitive subgrant opportunity is made possible through an education grant awarded to NCGYO, and is designed to support educator preparation providers seeking to create or expand Teacher Registered Apprenticeship Programs (RAPs) across Vermont.

A total of $300,000 is available statewide , with awards of up to $100,000 per distinct proposal. Educator preparation providers may submit multiple distinct proposals within a single application. NCGYO will administer the competitive application and award process in coordination with the Vermont Agency of Education and Vermont Department of Labor.

This subgrant opportunity is designed to create high-quality, debt-reducing apprenticeship pathways that support fully funded routes to Vermont licensure , address shortages in rural and small districts, strengthen evidence-based literacy preparation, and build lasting district-to-licensure-to-employment pipelines.

Who applies : Vermont-approved EPPs, including approved institutions of higher education and approved non-IHE alternative-route providers with a university or credit partner, may lead an application. Out-of-state (non-Vermont) EPP participation is also allowable for this opportunity. Each proposal must include at least one Vermont local education agency that will employ apprentices and their assigned mentors.

What it funds : Approved apprentice tuition, required fees, and books for a complete pathway to initial Vermont licensure. Grant and other available resources must ensure that selected apprentices pay $0 out of pocket for these costs.

Where it's aimed : rural, high-need, and underserved Vermont communities, including regions beyond the current apprenticeship model.
